Being pregnant at a young age or before marriage is bound to affect a teenager in some ways. Teen pregnancies include both the pregnant teenager and her partner. Adolescent who is pregnant can develop mental health conditions such as:
  1. Depression –  Depression does not only come from the pregnancy but also from how people in the environment react to the pregnancy. It can also persist even after childbirth and worst lead to suicide and harming her newborn child.
  2. Postnatal depression – A type of depression that many parents experience after the birth of a baby.
  3. Self-esteem issues – Due to the social stigma that has befall onto them and their child, they feel insecure and inadequate as person. This will lead to future problems of unemployment and raising-up her child.
  4. Anxiety disorder – She might not want to talk to others or to be out in public in fear of discrimination.
  5. Anger – Anger felt by these adolescents can be towards men, family members, their child and society for destroying her potential of having a normal and successful life. She may blame others for the situation she currently is in.
